Happy holidays everyone! Santa brought me a new lens to play with so I'm taking a photo break each day to make a few compositions.
Hope you are all having a great holiday season.

Homeless in the Annex

Hi Leslie and all - sorry to have been silent for so long.
Our move to Toronto has taken all our time until just recently.
Anyway, all the new images from you and others are amazing - too many for me to comment just now.
Here's one from Janie's and my first real daylight walk around our new neighbourhood - we're right downtown, and encounter all slices of life.
I'll be back!

Is anyone still here?

Here are a couple of images I played around with using a technique I learned this morning on the Radiant Vista website. The top one was taken on a back road while on a trip to Crater Lake, Oregon, a couple of years ago; the bottom one was taken from our hotel window while we were visiting Seattle for the opera (the Ring Cycle), also a couple of years ago. I call them "mystery roads"
Hope everyone is well, and still having fun with their photography. Please post something soon, just to say "Hi".
Cheers

Macro Lilacs
This is something new I've read about and now experimenting with. I don't have a fancy macro lens, but I bought a reversal ring for my old 50mm lens. At first I couldn't get any depth of field so I tried larger fsetting and with the tripod and a longer exposure managed to get this shot. I did tweak the exposure a small amount in Photoshop.

Missing words--and what happened to March & April
Hmmm--I remember saying that I would try to post something each month this year. Well, March went by in a blur, with two weeks spent in Japan (with 16 teenagers) and over a week being sick; April was recovery and catch-up. Didn't really come home with anything good from Japan (too busy shepherding the 16) but here is an urban shot from Tokyo. The tulips were in downtown Vancouver and the hellebores are in a pot on our deck. Happy Spring to all!

Winter Retreat
It is inspiring to see the pictures everyone is posting so here are a few I took yesterday at our cabin. Ah March Break it is here at last!
Haven't been doing alot of photography lately, but I do post recent "stuff" on windyleagallery.blogspot.com
Had my first solo show of paintings at the Fundy Gallery of Art in Saint John last month, it went well and was a positive experience!
Hope to hear news and see photos soon!

The Sticker Queen
This shot taken directly above the wood stove previously posted. You can see the stove pipe, with added stickers in the background.

Something to keep you warm
Leslie, beautiful shots. I look forward to seeing more.
Here is a picture of one of the wood stoves in our home. Your Feb shots were cold so I thought I'd warm things up a bit. Hope everyone is doing well.

February post

In keeping with my plan to post something each month--here's one for February. Ice on the inlet with a reflection from the setting sun and two images from a road trip through Nevada last January. Don't know if I'll manage next month as I'm off to Japan for two weeks (with 16 teenagers!) in the middle of March.

Blog changed to new blogger.
Hey everyone,
Hope all is well. I just upgraded my blogger account from the old style blogger to the new style blogger. This "shouldn't" negatively affect anyone, but please do let me know if you see a problem (especially if you can no longer post).
Thanks
MarK

Happy New Year

David G, it was great to see your posting--and your King of the Beasts shot. I am quite envious of your trip to Africa; I was there in the early 70s, and would love to go back. Would be nice to see some more of your images here, and so to visit vicariously. A dream trip would be to combine a trip to East Africa with one of Freeman's workshops in South Africa.
David H, I suppose you have made your move to Toronto and would certainly like to see some more of your work. Say "Hi" to Jane as well--is she teaching in Toronto?
Mark, some more images from your last workshop would be wonderful.
Shaun, if you are still looking, I visit your other blog from time to time and have been impressed with what you have posted there.
My goal for this year is to post something each month; I almost didn't make it this month but I'm posting a "dreamscape" from the fall, taken a few minutes from our house and two (un)seasonable images from the west coast winter.
Cheers
Lesley
