Thank You Mark. It seems this time of year I am mostly on the move in the dark going to work and getting home in the dark too. So I thought I'd try to make the most of it and try taking pictures in the dark. I'm a total novice just reading directions from the instruction manual that came with my camera.
I enjoy seeing your pictures of little Skye...she sure has captured her parent's hearts.... totally. But that's what parenthood does to us. Enjoy.
I love the warm flow of the light in this image. If you can shoot earlier, when the light from inside the house matches the ambient light from outside, you can get some detail in the outdoor part of the image while not blowing out the details inside. This also looks like a situation where you could use a flashlight to "paint with light" or, with a long exposure, an off the camera flash to light different portions of the shot.
Thank You Lesley, Those are great suggestions I'm planning on giving them a try! Andre had an image I recall where he had painted with a spot light but I'm not exactly sure how that would work. I'll have to experiment. We finally have snow now and I'm sure it will also influence the night time photography too. Once again thanks and I hope you have a lovely Holiday! Ours starts on the 23rd!!!!!

Tip? Sheesh... You don't need tips.
Seriously, I've thoroughly enjoyed every image you've posted Shaun.
Thank you for sharing them. They make me want to make pictures. That to me is one of the most wonderful feelings I get from images I enjoy.
