Finally, some images from India

This is the first time I've tried to export images using Lightroom--just hope it works! I had so many pictures (45 days worth) that I found it far easier and faster to process using Lightroom than Bridge and Photoshop.
While in India (mostly in Rajasthan but with visits to Agra for the Taj Mahal and to Veranasi to see the Ganges) we saw many wonderful things and so many fabulous colours. But, India is not an easy place to travel and we had the unfortunate incident of our bus going off the road and turning over on its side. Luckily nobody received more than bumps and bruises but my D200 flew off my lap, hit my husband on the head and resulted in his needing three stitches. I think he might want me to go back to a point-and-shoot!

Great travel story and beautiful images Lesley. I'm jealous India look like a wondrous place.

I had to cringe when I heard the D200 part, hope it still works OK.

Hi Mark:
I do need to take the camera in; the 18-200 VR (the lens I used 99.9% of the time)occasionally doesn't focus quickly when it is zoomed to its max but it got me through the rest of our time in India and our two weeks in Bhutan (pictures to follow shortly). India is quite wondrous--in many ways. One wonders at its monuments, colours, sights and sounds but one also wonders at how anything at all works, even as well as it does, with the mass of humanity that lives there. It was a great trip, but I won't rush to return.
Cheers.

Leslie - these are lovely, haunting images!

Our younger daughter Alison is in Southeast Asia right now backpacking for 6 months, and has sent many images from India. She's got a good eye but could learn a thing or two from you.

Janie and I are off Friday night for a cruise around the Baltic and then a weekend in Oxford. Will try to post some images from, say, St. Petersburg?

Cheers.

PS - Freeman is very generously sponsoring an auction and sale of some of his African images in Toronto at a fundraiser we're running in Toronto in November for Starfish Canada, which raises funds to support children in South Africa who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
